About
Parenthood is a journey and we’re right here with you
The reality is that parenting is challenging and comes with an emotional rollercoaster, yet, raising children is extremely fulfilling and rewarding.
As new parents, we are just trying to figure out an entirely new life with huge new responsibilities, with very little sleep and recovery.
But most people know this when going into parenthood.
What no one tells you about is how funny and sweet your baby is when breastfeeding, the snorts and violent head shaking before latching, how much newborns fart, and what their pooping face looks like.
The purpose of ParentingMode is to help to navigate parenthood, from diapering to sleeping habits to parenting techniques.
What’s the deal with Diapers?
Diapering is one of the main things new parents need to master when a newborn arrives home.
You cannot get around it as, during the newborn stage, you might be changing up to 20 diapers a day (no joke, poop, change the diaper, poop again, repeat).
Although we like cloth diapers a lot, we are not here to judge what parents should use. Both have their time and place.
Cloth diapers are environmentally friendly, save you money, and look cute. Disposables can be a life changer when on the go.
But cloth diapering is way easier than people often make it look.
If the baby is breastfed, you don’t even rinse the poop before the wash. Once solids are introduced, you can use disposable or fleece liners to make poops easier to drop into the toilet.
I actually love diapering my children, washing the diapers, and hanging them to dry. It’s not for everyone, but it’s certainly worth a try.
Ultimately it comes down to what works for your family. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to do cloth diapering full-time.
We believe parents should try both and combine them into their life to get the maximum benefit.
