Types of Pampers Diapers

Pampers diapers come in various styles, cuts, and specifications. The type of diaper you use will depend on your baby’s age and size, if they’re a heavy or light wetter, potty-training, or only using them for overnight use. The following sections outline the different types of Pampers diapers.

Pampers Baby Dry

Pampers Baby Dry is the all-around, standard Pampers diaper. Pampers Baby Dry offers a 100% leak protection guarantee with a pattened dri-weave liner to keep your baby feeling dry and prevent rashes. In addition, the diapers have easy off and on tabs and stretchy sides, providing a secure fit and preventing blowouts.

They come in fun, Sesame Street designs and have a soft, cotton-like feel. Pampers Baby Dry diapers are also hypoallergenic, free of parabens, and free of latex.

Pampers Baby Dry Sizes

It is offered in Pampers sizes newborn through size 6, which fit babies under 10 pounds to 35+ pounds. Unfortunately, Pampers newborn diapers don’t have a specific start weight; their website and packaging simply state >10 lbs. Therefore if you have a smaller baby, especially a premie, you may need a different brand.

Pampers Baby dry are designed to fit mobile toddlers and preschoolers up to 35 pounds or 3+ years so that you can stick with the same brand from birth through potty training.

Pampers Swaddlers

Pampers diapers are the #1 pediatrician-recommended diapers, and Pampers Swaddlers are the brand’s softest diapers. Just the name, Swaddler, evokes images of a comfy and dry baby sleeping snuggly in their diaper.

Pampers newborn Swaddlers come with a belly button notch allowing the umbilical cord to heal without irritation.

Pampers Swaddlers include a wetness indicator, adorable animal prints, and dual-leak guard protection that is gentle on legs but prevents messy leaks.

Pampers Swaddlers Sizes

Pampers Swaddlers sizes range from newborn to size 7, so there is a diaper size for every baby, toddler, and preschooler! Pampers diapers sizes 6 and 7 are specifically designed for bigger toddlers and preschoolers who need a little more time potty training. Size 6 is for 35+ pounds, and size 7 fits kids 41+ pounds.

If your toddler is ready for independence, you may wish to switch to a style of diaper that pulls on and off like underwear. While Swaddlers can certainly fit preschoolers’ potty training, they go on and off like traditional diapers.

Pampers Swaddlers Overnight

Pampers Swaddlers Overnight offer all the great benefits of regular Swaddlers but are specifically designed for older babies and big kids who sleep through the night. In addition, they offer 12-hour leak protection that prevents leaks from occurring overnight and keeps moisture away from your baby’s delicate skin.

Swaddlers Overnight is sold in a regular and bulk; the bulk packages contain anywhere from 72-116 per pack. Since you’ll only need 1-2 of these a night, a bulk pack can last several months, saving frequent trips to the store.

Pampers Swaddlers Overnight Sizes

Swaddlers Overnight is only available in sizes 3-6. According to the Pampers size guide, they will fit babies 16-35+ lbs; roughly 6+ plus months. For most styles, the Pampers sizing chart is the same, meaning size 3 is almost always 16-28 lbs, size 4 22-37 lbs. And so on. However, it is always a good idea to check your baby’s weight against the chart on the box to make sure you’re purchasing the correct size.

Pampers Pure Protection

Pampers Pure Protection is the most natural diaper of the Pampers brands. These soft diapers feature an absorbent plant-based liner made from cotton to keep delicate skin dry and healthy. In addition, they are enriched with shea butter which works as a natural protective barrier.

Pampers Pure Protection diapers are hypoallergenic and free of fragrances, latex, and parabens. They have adorable designer prints and a wetness indicator that changes color when the diaper needs changing.

Pampers Pure Protection Sizes

Pampers pure sizes follow standard Pampers diaper sizing and are available in newborns through size 6. NP pampers are designed for <10lbs but do not specify the lowest weight recommendation.

Typically newborn sizes are for 8+ plus, so if you’re expecting a smaller baby, have a few smaller diapers on hand just in case these are too big.

Size 6 is 35+ pounds and will fit most children ages 2 ½ – 4 years old.

Pampers Cruisers

Pampers cruisers are designed for babies and toddlers ready to crawl and walk. They have a patented Stay-Put fit panel and tabs to ensure even the busiest of movers don’t lose their drawers!

The sides of Pampers Cruisers are 2x as stretchy as other diapers but still come with dual-leak guard protection. They are available in a variety of adorable patterns and sizes 3 and 4 come equipped with a wetness indicator.

Pampers Cruisers come in100% recyclable boxes!

Pampers Cruisers Sizes

Because they are designed for babies on the move, Pampers cruisers sizes only include sizes 3-7.  According to the Pampers chart, 7 is big enough for even the most robust preschoolers and fits kids 41+ pounds or three years and older.

The pampers size indicator goes by weight. So, even if your baby is big enough for cruisers, you may prefer to stay with your original diaper choice if they’re not crawling yet. However, once your baby is on the move, switching to cruisers may prevent unwanted leaks once your baby is on the move.

Pampers Cruisers 360

Pampers Cruisers 360 come with all the benefits of regular Pampers Cruisers. The biggest difference is that Cruisers 360 has a pull-on waistband instead of tabs. A pull-on waistband makes slipping on a new diaper a cinch, especially if you have a wiggly toddler!

To take a dirty diaper off, they have easy rip sides. Cruisers are a great first step for a child showing interest in potty training since they provide a level of independence.

Pampers Cruisers 360 Sizes

Like Pampers Cruisers, Cruisers 360 are made in pampers sizing 3-7. The pampers weight chart indicates that Cruisers 360 will fit babies, toddlers, and preschoolers from 16-41+ pounds.

Their design allows for a flexible and gap-free fit, even for babies with a bigger tummy and chunkier thighs.

If your child attends preschool or childcare, the slip/on option may make diaper changes more challenging since your child would have to undress from the waist down completely. However, if potty training, they work like underwear which is a benefit.

Pampers Easy Ups

Pampers Easy Ups are a pull-on style diaper designed for potty training toddlers and preschoolers. They feature Trolls, PJ Masks, or Mickey & Friends characters. These unique potty training pants go on and off like underwear and are designed to be ultra-thin yet absorbent.

Their thin design makes them feel and look like undies under your child’s clothing but still offer ultimate leak protection, even at night and during naps. In addition, Easy Ups are a great way to foster independence in your little one when they are ready to tackle potty training.

Pampers Easy Ups Sizes

Pampers pull-up sizes are slightly different than the regular Pampers diaper size chart. Easy Ups come in pampers size by age: 2T/3T, 3T/4T, 4T/5T, and 5T/6T.

Easy Up sizes loosely correspond to regular sizes. 2T/4T is almost equal to sizes 3 and 4. Easy Ups 3T/4T equate to sizes 4-6. 4T/5T is roughly size 6 diapers. Lastly, 5T/6T is equal to size 7.

Before purchasing, check the pampers sizes and weights recommendations on the label.

Pampers Splashers

Pampers Splashers are designed specifically for pool and beach time! Despite their pull-on and off design, parents should not use them in place of traditional Easy Ups as they are not ultra absorbent. Instead, they are designed to hold in accidents and mess while swimming without becoming bulky or heavy.

Their 360 fit is designed to keep sand and dirt out, mess in, and won’t swell in the water! With 17-20 per package, depending on size, one pack could last you an entire vacation!

Pampers Splashers Sizes

Pampers swim diapers sizes are available in small, medium, and large. They are designed to fit babies and toddlers 13-40 lbs. They do not offer a Pampers newborn size or size for smaller babies. However, you can usually purchase a washable or reusable swim diaper for young babies until they fit into Splashers.

Since they are slipped on, they cannot be adjusted, so make sure you check the Pampers by weight recommendation on the packaging.

How to Pick the Right Pampers Diaper Size?

Like most diaper brands, most Pampers diapers are sized by weight. However, a few exceptions exist in which a Pampers size chart by age is used: Pampers Easy Ups and Pampers Splashers.

The first step in picking the correct diaper size is to know your baby’s weight. Each diaper package has the recommended weight printed on the front or side.

Choose a diaper in which your baby’s weight sits squarely in the middle of the range. If you notice leaks occurring, it likely means the diapers are too small or too big: too small diapers cause compression leaks.

How to Get the Right Pampers Diaper Fit?

Once the diaper is fastened on your baby, look for gaps around the belly, back, and leg cuffs. Too tight diapers will have no give and may leave red lines around your baby’s waist or legs.

Fits Under the Belly Button

A properly fitting diaper for a newborn should go under the belly button or umbilical cord stump. This is to prevent irritation. Pampers Newborns come with an umbilical notch pre-cut. Pampers newborn diapers size fits babies under 10 lbs.

Swaddlers are also available in Pampers preemie size, which fits babies 6-10 lbs. The preemie size also includes a belly button notch. Once your baby’s umbilical cord stump has fallen off, it is up to your whether to place the diaper above or below their belly button.

Cuffs Shouldn’t Gap

Leg cuffs should be a gap to prevent leaks but also not be too tight. You should be able to slide a finger between their leg and the cuff. Pampers have elastic leg cuffs, so they are stretchy and comfortable. They will move when your baby moves, but they shouldn’t open so wide that there are significant gaps.

Able to Fit 2 Fingers Under the Waistband

If your baby’s diapers are the right size, you will be able to slide two fingers between their back or belly and the waistband. Anything tighter means the diaper is too small. In addition to being uncomfortable, a too-small diaper will also cause compression leaks.

Not Leaving Any Marks

If your baby’s diaper leaves red marks around their waist or legs, the diaper is either too small or has been fastened too tightly. If the marks are only around the waist, try a looser fit at the waist. Use the two-finger test to ensure the diaper is fitting appropriately.

When to Switch to the Next Diaper Size?

If you are having trouble achieving a good fit, it is probably time to move to the next Pampers size. Additionally, if your baby’s weight is on the borderline of two sizes, you may want to move up to the next size before it’s too late. You don’t want to find yourself with half a case of too small diapers because your baby suddenly had a growth spurt!

Signs to look for:

  • Compression leaks
  • Blowouts
  • Red lines
  • Not being able to fit two fingers into the waistband
  • Tabs coming undone
  • Baby pulling at diaper or seems uncomfortable
